05 Aug 11 Looking For Great Camera Gear?

Good quality photography equipment helps photographers produce beautiful images. There is a wide range of accessories available, from flash diffusers to lens filters, it can be difficult to know which items are essential when it comes to putting together your kit.

The first investment for anyone that is serious about photography is a good quality tripod. From compact and modern designs like gorilla pods to the classic high rise camera tripod, there are many styles and designs available. By investing in a higher quality tripod you will get many more years of use out of it and it will soon become your favourite accessory.

Tripods hold the camera steady whilst you take pictures, you will also be able to take shots from angles that would be impossible to obtain if you were trying to get your body behind the shot. When a good tripod is used well, especially in conjunction with a remote shutter device, you can be guaranteed to get crisp, sharp images every single time.

If you are investing in a tripod, it is perhaps worth getting a remote shutter release device as well. These are only pocket money to buy and they allow you to create group shots or even do self-portraits. Even the simplest shot can be made so much better by using a shutter release and a tripod, eliminating every hint of blur and wobble.

Every photographer should also own at least one or two lens filters. Lens filters act like sunglasses on a camera and can vastly improve shots. Out of all the lens filters available, the one recommended by most photographers is a polarising filter. This cuts out glare and reflection and makes the colours more vivid, creating stunning results time after time.

There is nothing worse than getting into a day of shooting and running out of power, to combat this make sure that you have one or two spare and fully charged camera batteries in your kit. If you plan to be away overnight or are going on holiday, make sure you pack the charging unit.

The cost of camera batteries varies between manufacturers, whilst you will often see cheaper alternatives available from abroad or over the internet, make sure you know what quality you are buying. Some of the non-branded camera batteries may be of dubious quality meaning they may not hold their charge for as long and may have a shorter lifespan than their counterparts.
